Our Fall “Bushel” List: Favorite Fall Recipes

There’s nothing like curling up on the couch and eating some delicious food on a chilly fall day. In this blog post, we’re listing our favorite fall recipes for days just like those. Enjoy alone or with some friends, just don’t forget a dry cider. They pair well with any of the below!

Chili → What’s better than chili on a chilly fall day? Apple chili. That’s what. Try this chili with a spiced apple twist, and you’ll be grabbing seconds faster than you can say pumpkin spiced latte. More of a traditional chili taster? The below White Chicken Chili recipe is top-notch.

Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs boneless chicken
  • 48 oz northern beans
  • 16 oz salsa
  • 8 oz monterey jack cheese
  • 2 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp Lawry’s seasoned salt
  • 1 tsp Lawry’s seasoned pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic
  • 1 chopped onion
  • ½ cup jalapenos
  • 3 large cans of chicken broth    

Directions:

  1. Bake chicken
  2. Mix all other ingredients in large pot
  3. Shred chicken and add stock to pot
  4. Cook over medium heat until preferred temperature, stirring often

Apple Crisp → It’s an oldie but a goodie. Don’t forget your orchard-picked apples (click here for our list of our favorite orchards) and top with vanilla ice cream to serve. If you’d rather eat your orchard-picked apples with caramel apple dip, use the below recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 8 oz cream cheese
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup white sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Directions:

  1. Mix until cream
  2. Serve chilled with apple slices

Spiral Apple Dumplings →  These are not your typical dumplings. This dessert is the festive combination of a cinnamon roll and an apple crumble.

Pumpkin Roll → The natural spice from the pumpkin paired with the sweetness of the frosting makes a delicious treat. Enjoy with friends and let the good times roll!

Pumpkin Bread or Bars → Perhaps you’ve had pumpkin bread before, but have you had the best pumpkin bread ever? The secret is the brown butter maple icing that compliments the tender moistness of the bread. If you like bars better than bread, here’s your recipe:  

Bar Ingredients:

  • 4 eggs, beaten
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup pumpkin pie filling
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 2 cups flour    

Directions:

  1. Sift dry ingredients together
  2. Mix remaining ingredients
  3. Blend together
  4. Pour into greased and floured cookie sheet
  5. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes

Frosting Ingredients:

  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 8 oz cream cheese
  • ½ stick softened butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Directions:

  1. Mix and spread over cooled bars

Peach Crisp

→ When you think of fall, you might think of apples or pumpkins. But this Peach Crisp recipe is one of our fall favorites! Although these are usually reserved for the summer time, the various spices are the perfect fall treat.
